Pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
Fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
Fresh basil leaves
Extra-virgin olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Preheat your oven to the highest temperature it can reach (usually around 500°F or 260°C).
Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness.
Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza stone, baking sheet, or pizza pan that’s been lightly dusted with flour or cornmeal.
Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges for the crust.
Place the sliced fresh mozzarella evenly over the sauce.
Season with a pinch of salt and a sprinkle of pepper.
Slide the pizza into the preheated oven and bake until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly, usually about 10-15 minutes.
Once the pizza is out of the oven, scatter fresh basil leaves over the top.
Drizzle with a bit of extra-virgin olive oil for extra flavor.
